Clove Crescent briefing for councillors

At Wednesday’s development committee meeting you can vote to provide amazing new educational space right here, on Clove Crescent.

About 40% of the existing space in the buildings here is unused. You can help us make much better use of the space by supporting our application.

First, education. It’s fantastic that Tower Hamlets is the only council that pays the Education Maintenance Allowance to 16 – 18 year olds, giving more people the opportunity to go  to university. And it’s wonderful that Tower Hamlets has introduced University Bursaries for all full-time university students from lower income households.

We have Universities waiting to take space in these buildings, providing a new world of educational opportunities for young people of all backgrounds. A  world of education with first class facilities right on the doorstep.

Universities based here in Tower Hamlets will help the council’s pledge to increase the number of our youngsters going on to higher education – here we have City Gateway that are helping 16-18 year olds get into work and employment – which is vital work.

Our universities are all about helping the local area and helping people into work. They partner with us to run our affordable workspace where we give free and discounted office and desk space for local entrepreneurs and where we give them training and support to help them grow. We also work with our universities to give space to charities, provide warm spaces, and run a food bank and benefits advice service from here. We’re passionate about making a difference locally.

But we need your vote to support the planning application for 1 and 2 Mulberry Place on Wednesday night. We’re not making the building taller, just using the space inside better.

Thankyou for your support!
